This story isn’t telling anything new here Hexfix. This explains a lot, i hope that the renoise people read this … Seems that the 3-4mS you have mentioned is pretty typical and not something that can be solved from within Renoise to me, from the link you yourself posted. In other words, the combination of my motherboard timers, Windows and Cubase alone produced a maximum jitter of 3ms My best setting was Windows MIDI with timestamp enabled, when I measured random note timing offsets between 0ms and 3ms with the Maple VMC loopback, and delays of between 1ms and 4ms with my Emu MIDI port loopback. If you have timing issues, this technique will prove whether the problem is due to the interface or the sequencer. This software utility adds virtual MIDI Inputs and Outputs to your system, so you can route MIDI data between different applications, but for our purposes it’s perfect for sending MIDI data between the output and input of your sequencer without the added latency and jitter of your MIDI interface, so you can directly measure the MIDI timing of the sequencer. Another neat trick is to do the same tests after installing a Virtual MIDI Cable (VMC).
